Topic: Who spreads online misinformation and how to correct it

We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant to join our interdisciplinary team and be involved in all aspects of our innovative misinformation studies. In particular, the research assistant will assist in programming experiments, data collection (for example recruiting participants online), assisting with human subjects applications, data analysis, literature reviews, and preparing manuscripts. There will be opportunities to present work at conferences. This position will be based inperson at Northeastern University in Boston, USA. We are looking for someone who can start in JuneJuly 2024 for a one-year position, with the possibility of a second year.

PhD studentship - cancer misinformation

Applicants are sought for a funded PhD studentship at the School of Applied Psychology, University College Cork, Ireland. The successful candidate will work on a project to develop and evaluate cognitive interventions to reduce susceptibility to cancer-related misinformation. The student will be jointly supervised jointly by Dr Gillian Murphy (University College Cork), Dr Ciara Greene (University College Dublin) and Dr Sarah Foley (University College Cork). The goal of this PhD project is to develop and test digital interventions against cancer misinformation, based on psychological research into the factors underlying misinformation acceptance. Through a series of experimental studies, the PhD research will examine the potential of digital interventions that target cancer patients, as well as wider networks of people who may be susceptible to engaging with and spreading misinformation.

Post-doctoral Position in Human Cognition/Cognitive Neuroscience

Villanova University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a Mendel Science Experience Postdoctoral Fellowship within the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, in the area of human cognition. The position has a starting date of August 2024. Review of applications will begin around February 19, 2024, and the search will remain open until the position is filled. The Fellow will conduct research in collaboration with the faculty mentor (Dr. Irene Kan) and will have opportunities to supervise student research. In addition, the Fellow will teach a laboratory science course for non-science-majors on “Neuroscience of Sleep” and develop undergraduate courses in psychological science and/or cognitive neuroscience. Initial appointment is for two years, with a third year possible by mutual agreement between the fellow and faculty mentor.
