The 14th Biennial meeting in Nagoya, Japan, 9 - 12 August 2023 (SARMAC 2023) was an enormous success and we were delighted to see more than 400 SARMAC researchers in Japan.

The Organizing Committee for SARMAC 2023 consisted of Hiroshi Ito (Chair, Aichi University), Yui Fukushima (Waseda University), Kazuo Mori (Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology) and Steve Janseen (University of Nottingham Malaysia).

About Nagoya: Nagoya is the third-largest city in Japan, located almost at the geographical center of Japan, between Tokyo and Kyoto on the busiest Shinkansen super-express railway. It is about a 1.5 hour from Tokyo and only a half-hour from Kyoto by Shinkansen. Nagoya seems less known to overseas visitors, and as a result everything tends to be less expensive in Nagoya than in Tokyo or Kyoto. Nagoya Castle is the symbol of Nagoya, which was initially built by Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Edo samurai government, in 1612. Hotel Nagoya Garden Palace, the conference venue, is about 2 km from the Central Station; either two stops with the subway plus a 5-minute walk or an 8-minute taxi ride. There is a punctual and easily accessible public transportation system within Nagoya city and between cities in Japan. The streets and avenues of Nagoya are well-designed, like New York, regularly crossing in the lattice.
